It is important for students of technical education to keep themselves abreast of changes taking place in the industry. Towards this end, the college organizes regular industrial tours to electronics, electrical, communication, aeronautical, and computer science based industries and institutions. Students, guided by the faculty, are encouraged to conduct a survey/interview of the people and the place visited. They shall then prepare a detailed report of the tour for a class presentation.
Guest lectures form an important part of academics. These lectures give an opportunity to the students to listen to experts in the field and industry insiders. The speakers would bring in fresh perspectives and ideas to the students whose knowledge would be otherwise restricted only to textbook based classroom learning. These guest lectures are conducted frequently by inviting experts. Guest lectures on Java, Dot Net Applications, career prospects, communication skills, and Image Processing were some of the recent ones.
Workshops for students are held regularly by the various departments. Workshops aim at learning in smaller groups by knowing and doing the same to gain practice. Workshops on Advanced Robotics, Embedded Systems, Innovative Electronics, and Digital Signal Processing are some of the workshops conducted by the Dept. of ECE. In the recent past Dept. of CSE conducted workshops on Android, Cloud Computing, and Ethical hacking.
Seminars involve learning groups and a member of the teaching staff. They provide an opportunity for active discussions on relevant topics, many of which will have been covered in the lectures. They help develop transferable skills such as communication and teamwork, and offer a platform for you to participate fully in your learning. The major feature of a seminar is that you are encouraged to take a measure of control over your studies and to contribute positively to these discussions. Many first year students initially feel tense and nervous when taking part in seminars, but as their knowledge and confidence levels grow, they start enjoying this stimulating way of learning.
Project labs play a pivotal role in undertaking mini projects and final year projects. This facility has been created to facilitate students to take up innovative in-house projects. The awareness levels and knowledge of developing and completing projects is very high with respect to in-house projects because the students are always under the watchful eyes of both internal and external guides. Dept. of ECE conducts mini projects and projects in General Electronics, Embedded systems, Image processing and Communication fields in every year in the college campus itself.
Apart from producing efficient engineers, the College also aims to make them well-rounded domain experts. As the prescribed syllabus is limited in certain respects, specially designed Adjunct Courses provide an opportunity to enhance and update skills and add value to the knowledge base without having to seek off-campus coaching. Dept. of CSE conducts adjunct courses on Java and Dot Net for students just before their mini projects.
Tutorials are held to strengthen classroom learning. The tutors help students in understanding the concept taught in the class to facilitate further learning. They also help in completing exercises so as to ensure internalization of academic inputs.
Students of ASTI are given assignments throughout the year which are related to their subjects as well as general topics. They are assigned to perform various tasks, activities that demonstrate a rightful combination of theory and practice. These assignments help students avoid pitfalls by anticipating their questions and assumptions. Students get an early chance to succeed, to test their skills and to improve.

The IT Center provides advanced computing facilities to the academic and administrative community of the college and plays a critical role in helping to keep the college at the leading edge of information technology by continuously enhancing and upgrading its facilities. The center is equipped with the latest hardware and software facilities with modern computers all well-networked with Intel based multi-user UNIX system, NetWare LAN and WINDOWS NT network and 50 plus software products are available to the users of central facilities. It is not only been a platform for the students to sharpen the computer skills but also provides support & guidance to the students taking up the projects in the field of software.
