Mathematics, Electronics & Computer Science (MECs)

B.Sc with Mathematics, Electronics & Computer Science is a three-year undergraduate course aimed to carving students with knowledge of hardware & software.

This course enables the students to have a sound knowledge of the components which helps them to analyze and design electronic circuits and innovate electronic appliances that we use in every walk of life. Students also develop logical skills enabling them to get ready for high end technology oriented programmes. Students also get to in the careers of software industry.

First Year
The students learn basic mathematical skills of solving differential equations which help in generating mathematical models in various fields, and concepts of 'Three dimensional geometry'. In electronics they learn A.C. fundamentals, simple networks, network theorems which help them to understand the electronic circuits. They also gain knowledge about various electronic devices and their applications in day to day life. In computer science, students learn fundamentals of computer science with concepts of computer architecture and operating systems. They are introduced to programming skills through a high level like C. They are also trained to use MS Office tools effectively.

Second Year
Students learn basic mathematical concepts of abstract algebra which plays a vital role in developing various logical tools for computer science & electronics, and real analysis which is useful in logical & analytical ability. In electronics they learn rectifiers & power supplies, feedback amplifiers, and op-amp and communication systems. This course gives complete knowledge of power supply system, amplification and its applications and audio communication system. In computer science, they have mathematical foundations for computer sciences such as graph theory and number theory. They also learn concepts of data structures and programming skills pertaining to real time applications using object oriented programming like Java.

Third Year
Students learn linear algebra with matrix theory which helps in solving system of equations and use the same for solving various real life problems. Also students learn multiple integrals to calculate area bounded by various surfaces. In electronics, they learn digital electronics and its applications in various fields. They also learn architecture and organization of microprocessors and micro controllers, programming them according to the application in which they are used. They learn assembly language programming techniques. In computer science, students are given further training in applied mathematical concepts related to relational algebra, set theory and boolean algebra. They also learn concepts of modern database management system and operating system. They also study various aspects of operating systems like process management, memory management, storage management, protection and security issues & distributed systems.

Course Outcome
At the end of the course, students develop problem solving skills and learn various concepts which help in developing logical tools and models used to solve various real life problems. Also the students learn traditional techniques of solving algebraic, transcendental equations, differential and integral equations, which have applications in many disciplines. The students will have a capability to understand, troubleshoot and innovate electronic appliances that we use in every walk of life. They gain a comprehensive knowledge in electronic devices that will help to construct, analyze, verify, and troubleshoot discrete component circuits using appropriate techniques and test equipment. Students can understand the relation of assembly language to high level languages, C in particular and the importance of high-level language prototyping. In computer science, students develop ability to write algorithms for problems ranging from simple to complex problems, understand the practical implementation of the algorithm using programming language like C, Java and develops programs to solve the problems in best possible way. Students also develop documentation skills and presentation skills. The students will be able to find the role of databases for the organization and to apply them to the real world problems. They also appreciate the implications of operating systems in development of computing systems.
