Social Initiatives at ADC

With an aim to nurture managers with values, knowledge skills and actions, which would make them more humane and globally responsible citizens, Aurora has set up ACT (Aurora Cares for Them) to undertake social initiatives. ACT attempts to encompass the virtuous integration of Heart, Head and hand through these social initiatives. The social initiatives at ADC are implemented through a program, which we believe would help evolve students to manage and run modern business, as a true global citizen with a sense of responsibility and commitment towards the environment and society at large.

ACT at ADC concentrates on important issues connected with the environment and collaborates with several social organizations representing corporate bodies, government organizations and NGO's. Students of ADC contribute to the society by involving themselves in various developmental initiatives.

Patriotic Endeavours

National Cadet Corps (NCC)
The college has continuously been taking a leading role in the National Cadet Corps (NCC). Aurora's Degree College happens to be the first private unaided educational institution in the country to establish NCC. In spite of the relatively huge amount of investment required, the college is unwilling to compromise in its commitment towards the society and most importantly towards the nation. The 200 NCC cadets of the college have been actively participating in the various local and national camps organized by the NCC. The college's very own troop, Company No: 17/3 under the able guidance of the commanding officer has achieved many distinctions including bringing the prestigious Prime Minister's Banner and Silver Baton to the state after 48 years in the Republic Day Celebrations.

National Service Scheme (NSS)
The objective of NSS is mainly centered on the personality development of the students through programmes oriented towards community service. The overall concept of NSS is to guide the student youth towards community service, while they are studying in educational institutions. The NSS divisions of both girls and boys have been contributing a great deal by involving themselves in blood donation, rural guidance and community welfare. Mr. C.D. Malleshawar, Aurora faculty has been selected as a member in Nehru Yuva Kendra, Ministry of youth affairs and sports, Government of India recognizing his efforts in involving students in NSS activities.

Evaluation System

The college is affiliated to Osmania University which follows the year-wise scheme for conducting examinations. Apart from these university examinations, the faculty at Aurora takes the responsibility towards grooming of students through constant monitoring by virtue of internal examinations thus testing their competence. These examinations include classroom tests, impromptu seminars, group projects, presentations, daily tests and weekly tests. Apart from these, students will have to compulsorily attend the mid-term and pre-final examinations which are modeled after the university pattern of examinations.

The students will also be required to complete a stipulated number of assignments in every subject which are given to them by their respective lecturers. If the students fail to appear for any internal examination or fail to submit the assignments in time, they are liable to be punished by the college authorities. The students who are not regular in submitting the assignments and who skip examinations and the pre-final examinations may not be issued their hall tickets for the university examination.

Choice Based Credit System

The college expects each and every student to choose from a variety of activities like co-curricular activities, social activities, leadership activities, sports and games, club activities, outbound activities (tours) and technical activities. Among these, co-curricular activities and social activities are compulsory for all students. Of the remaining activities, the students can choose any three and gain points or credits. These points or credits are awarded to students based on the level of participation and level of achievement. This process would enable the students to evolve as all rounders with versatility that is required for the competitive world outside.

Thanks to the rigorous examination practice at the college, the students of Aurora secure minimum of three gold medals every year out of the ten programmes offered by the college.

"If the process of learning is to be tested to determine to what extent the system has been efficient in grooming the student, it is the examination that helps us achieve this".
